Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education : ウィキペディア英語版 | Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education The Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education is a center of distinction at Santa Clara University. Since founding their first school in 1548, the Jesuits have always aimed to provide an education that forms students as whole persons who will change the world for the better. As one of Santa Clara University's three Centers of Distinction, the Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education promotes and enhances that distinctively Jesuit, Catholic tradition of education at Santa Clara, through its five signature program: Bannan Institutes, The Thriving Neighbors Initiative, Arrupe Weekly Engagement, The Immersion Program, and Ignatian Spirituality offerings. The Ignatian Center's vision is to be recognized throughout Silicon Valley and beyond as providing leadership for the integration of faith, justice, and the intellectual life. ==Bannan Institute== Created in 1982 and named for Louis I. Bannan, S.J., the Institute seeks to improve and enhance the Ignatian spirit in the whole University community: faculty, students, staff, alumni and friends.〔(Ignatian Center History )〕 The work of the Bannan Institute includes: Bannan Grants to members of the SCU community, the annual explore journal publication, and most significantly the Bannan Institute Series, which are yearlong thematic lectures and programs for the greater campus community. Past Bannan Institutes have explored the themes of Sacred Texts in the Public Sphere (2012-2013), What Good is God? (2013-2014), and Ignatian Leadership (2014-2015). The Bannan Institutes have welcomed such speakers as Marilynne Robinson, Cornel West, Martha Nussbaum, Terry Eagleton, Christian Wiman, Rabbi Abraham Skorka, Sister Simone Campbell, and James Martin, S.J.
